Murshida Rabia Ana Perez-Chisti, PhD., is an ordained minister, senior teacher and National Co-Representative of the Sufi Movement International in the USA.

Murshida Rabia also acts as the Moin-ul-Maham for the USA (head of the Religious activity) and serves as part of a collaborative leadership on the Pir-O-Murshid council and the executive committee of the Sufi Movement International (SMI). She has directed a training program that ordains cherags (ministers of the Universal Worship founded by Hazrat Inayat Khan) that educates students in the study of the religious scriptures of the world. This SMI study program has continued for three decades preparing hundreds of students in interfaith studies, spiritual ethics and counseling procedures that permit them to move into chaplaincy, prison reform, and social programs that help humanity.

She holds degrees in psychology, philosophy and religion, and is presently a faculty member in the clinical psychology program at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. She has functioned as vice president and academic dean at the University of Creation Spirituality in Oakland, California and academic chair of the Ph.D. Global Program at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (now called Sofia University) in Palo Alto, California. She served as a faculty member at Naropa University for 11 years, and is a lecturer at the University of California-Berkeley, Stanford University, San Diego State University, John F. Kennedy University and Sonoma State University. She specializes in subjects such as Comparative World Religions, the Abrahamic Mystical Traditions, Buddhist Abidhamma using original translations from the Pali language, Ethics, Eastern and Western Philosophy, Women Saints and Prophets: East and West, Jungian Psychology, Psycho-spiritual Synthesis and Culture and Consciousness Studies.

Murshida Rabia has worked as the director of the Prison Library Project that networked with wardens of the local prisons to bring greater contemplative and educational literature into the prison libraries and also provided spiritual counsel to inmates and their families. She served as a start-up member of the San Francisco AIDS Hospice program. In the Mission of Charities in San Francisco and in Calcutta, she worked with Mother Teresa to support the homeless and marginalized communities in both areas. She was the coordinating director of the Emergency Relief Fund International that helped coordinate food and medicine dispersal to areas of Somalia and Ethiopia during periods of severe famine. She is presently supporting LGBT communities dealing with end-of-life care.

Academically, she is a phenomenological and hermeneutic researcher. Her interests extend to the study of many languages, yoga, dance and the martial arts as she holds a black belt in Shorin-Ryu Karate, a degree in herbal medicine from Dominican College in Vancouver, Canada and enjoys maintaining an organic vegetable and herb garden.
